Mayita Mendez

Mayita is a professional photographer born in El Salvador, raised in NYC, and living in BC Canada. She worked as a photojournalist in New York and was on staff for the daily New York City based newspaper Newsday. Her photography has been featured in major newspapers across the USA, from The New York Times to the Los Angeles Times. She was a awarded a Presidential Scholarship at the Rhode Island School of Design where she received her MFA. She has exhibited her work on both Protection Island and galleries in New York City. She is currently working on a project that investigates women’s relationships with the natural world.

Minah Lee

Minah is an interdisciplinary artist who grew up in South Korea and moved to unceded Coast Salish territories in 2007. She was a long-term temporary foreign worker and international student until she became a Permanent Resident in late 2019. She currently lives in traditional Snuneymuxw territory (Nanaimo). With her collective Art Action Earwig, she has been engaging with local and international communities through arts rooted in wholesome ecologies. She has been co-leading the collective’s community driven eco-arts initiative, Pulling To gather (2024 & 2026) in Nanaimo. She is a performer, curator, and producer. She has worked with Cinevolution Media Arts, The Fox Queen, and rice & beans theatre among many others.
